We receive support from Horizons International. Their mission is to communicate and demonstrate the love of Jesus so that the world, particularly the Muslim world, would be transformed by God's love and forgiveness, by proclaiming the Gospel, discipling the Nations, and equipping the Church.
The need for certain critical languages
Where the need is particularly great, we are looking for volunteers to assist with translations into the following languages:
Why these languages?
These languages were chosen as they represent the mother tongues of a large group of predominantly West Asian countries that have a desperate need. Syria is currently experiencing a humanitarian crisis on an unbelievable scale. There are thousands of refugees, displaced by the war in Syria, that are being taken care of in Lebanon and Jordan. These mostly speak Arabic, but among them are a vast number of Kurds that have fled from northern Syria and Iraq. Since there are a number of languages in the Kurdish group, Sorani was selected as it is the language mostly spoken by these refugees, other than Arabic.
Farsi (Persian) is spoken in a number of countries, including Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan and so including this language opens the website to a vast number of people. Turkish is an obvious choice as many of those in the northern parts of Iraq and Syria speak Turkish.
The aim of many relief organisations operating in the Middle East is not just to provide a temporary home for displaced refugees but also to look at their spiritual future. Having fled their own countries, often with only what they were wearing at the time or could carry with them, these people need to be shown the love of Jesus Christ. This is a perfect opportunity for us to share His love with them. Horizons International plays a crucial role in this regard.
The website consists of a fixed section (the main page and links leading directly off it) and the articles section. Any new articles that appear on the English version of the website will be available in the other languages as well as soon as they have been translated.
